Blue light therapy is a therapy that uses specific wavelengths of blue light to treat various conditions. Blue light has high energy and specific wavelength characteristics, which can produce biological effects on cells and tissues, and provide reparative and relieving effects during the treatment process.

Effects of Blue Light Therapy

Blue light therapy can inhibit the growth of bacteria in the affected area, reduce skin inflammation and redness. Research suggests that the ideal treatment cycle is 2-3 times per week, with 8-10 treatments showing significant improvement.

Blue light therapy is commonly used for the following conditions:

  • Some skin diseases: such as acne, skin inflammation, and psoriasis
  • Early-stage skin cancer
  • Sunburn
  • Depression

Precautions for Blue Light Therapy

The side effects of blue light therapy are usually mild and minor. Potential side effects may include:

  • Temporary skin redness
  • Dryness
  • Mild discomfort

 

The following conditions generally do not recommend blue light therapy, or require special attention:

  • Cannot be directly exposed to the eyes
  • Photosensitivity or photosensitivity
  • Concurrent use of photosensitive medications
  • Some forms of epilepsy
  • Pregnancy
