Causes of Nasal Allergies

  • Allergens: The most common cause is an allergic reaction to certain allergens, such as pollen, dust mites, animal dander, and mold. When these allergens enter the nasal cavity, they trigger an excessive immune system response, leading to allergy symptoms.
  • Climate changes: Climate changes (such as dry winters or humid seasons) can also irritate the nasal mucosa, leading to allergy symptoms.
  • Nasal inflammation: Inflammation in the nasal cavity, including sinusitis and rhinitis, can make the nasal mucosa more sensitive and prone to allergic reactions.
  • Genetic factors: It is related to parental genes. If both parents have a sensitive constitution, the child also has a higher chance of developing nasal allergies.

Symptoms of Nasal Allergies

  • runny nose

  • nasal itching
  • eye itchiness and tearing.
  • Patients may also develop other allergic conditions, such as eczema or asthma.

TCM Treatments for Nasal Allergies

Herbal medicine: The doctor will prescribe herbs based on the child’s health and tongue/pulse diagnosis, to strengthen the spleen, remove dampness, and tonify the lung qi, thereby reducing allergic reaction and improving the child’s immunity.

Acupuncture: Acupuncture on specific meridian acupoints can tonify the lung qi and enhance immune function, which is helpful in treating nasal allergies.

Moxibustion therapy: Applying specific herbal medicines on acupoints through the skin can improve qi and blood circulation, enhance cold and disease resistance, and effectively improve nasal allergies.

MANA Painless “Laser Acupuncture”

Combining traditional acupuncture with modern technology, laser acupuncture is painless, non-invasive and without needle sensation, making it suitable for children who are less receptive to traditional acupuncture.

Laser acupuncture uses low-intensity lasers to stimulate acupoints such as Lung Shu, Dingchuan, Yingxiang, Spleen Shu, and Kidney Shu, to tonify and regulate the qi, thereby enhancing immune function. When combined with Chinese herbal medicine, the effects are synergistic.
