High Arch

Foot & Gait Problems

High arched feet, also known as cavus feet, refer to a condition where the foot arch  has a significantly higher than normal raised or arched appearance. While normal foot arch height can vary between individuals, high arched feet indicate an arch that exceeds the typical range.

Negative Impacts of High Arched Feet

High arched feet can lead to various problems, including:

  • Foot pain, such as plantar fasciitis and Achilles tendinitis
  • Abnormal gait
  • Increased foot muscle tension and fatigue
  • Greater pressure on the lateral (outer) edges of the foot
  • Pelvic asymmetry or posterior tilt

Improving High Arched Feet

Methods to prevent and improve high arched feet include:

  • Gait correction
  • Releasing tension in the plantar fascia and foot joints
  • Custom orthotics
  • Periodic rest and avoiding prolonged static positions
  • Seeking professional medical advice, such as from doctors or physical therapists, to get an individualized treatment plan and recommendations

Exercises to Improve High Arch

按摩球運動, ball massage
足底關節放鬆, foot mobilization

Plantar fascia release

Use a smaller massage ball or golf ball to massage the plantar fascia, applying sufficient pressure on areas no larger than a nickel, for 2 minutes.

Foot joint mobilization

Use your hands to gently mobilize the joints of the toes, moving them up and down, 20 reps.

深層肌肉伸展

Deep plantar muscle stretching

With toes flat on the ground, raise the heels, holding the stretch for 20 seconds, 3 sets.
